Roblox Brings 10 Student Games to Life for Play to Learn Competition

Over 700,000 Students in Saudi Arabia Submitted More Than 155,000 Games for the Competition.

Roblox was designed to make game development more accessible to everyone. Earlier this year, we signed an agreement with Savvy Games Group to further this goal by supporting the inaugural Play to Learn competition in Saudi Arabia focused on students in the region.

This week, the Play to Learn competition came to a close. GLITCH: Parallel Reactions won the competition, an original concept that teaches chemistry by transporting students to a fantastical land where chemical reactions are used to battle monsters and explore the world. For winning the competition, Roblox will build GLITCH: Parallel Reactions into a fully realized experience and make it available to learners worldwide via the Roblox Learning Hub, which has been visited more than 64 million times since it launched in July 2025.

For the Play to Learn competition, teams of high school students submitted original game design concepts that blended play with education. Backed by the Saudi Ministry of Education, the countrywide competition is designed to introduce students to game development as part of their education. The results were staggering, with over 155,000 submissions from over 700,000 students across Saudi Arabia, representing more than 25% of all schools in the kingdom.

Over the last few months, Roblox brought the top 10 concepts from the Play to Learn competition to life as playable game prototypes. The games span subjects including electricity, medicine, chemistry, geometry, meteorology, and even the real-life reign of Zenobia, who challenged the Roman Empire and established the short-lived Palmyrene Empire.

For the final round of the competition, teams presented their prototypes to a panel of judges from Roblox, Steer Studios, and Warp Zone gaming, who selected GLITCH: Parallel Reactions as the overall winner. All of these educational experiences—both the prototypes and the finalized version of GLITCH: Parallel Reactions—will live in a new “Student Created” category on the Roblox Learning Hub.

Congratulations to the winners, the finalists, and the more than 700,000 students who participated in the Play to Learn competition. We hope that this experience has kindled a passion for game design in many of those who participated, and will help foster the next generation of developers.
